Press reports say the recovery came as oil and Treasury yields fell together, with the ten-year yield back below 5%, and equity volatility dropped almost 13% in a single session. All seven of the main indices we follow closed higher, and Milan posted its second straight gain. In Europe Rolls-Royce, Siemens Energy and Volkswagen led a broad advance, and on the **Milan market** Poste Italiane and Telecom Italia topped the list with the banks close behind. Press reports put weekly jobless claims at 196,000, below expectations: a solid labour market, which is also the reason the central bank raised rates in the first place. The rebound ran on almost a single engine. US technology, [US technology ETF](https://aitrading67.com/en/technology-us-etf-signals/)Long, gained **2.25%**, followed by consumer discretionary at 1.10%; communication services, [US communication services ETF](https://aitrading67.com/en/communication-services-us-etf-signals/)Long, lost 0.58% and financials, [US financials ETF](https://aitrading67.com/en/financials-us-etf-signals/)Long, were flat. Equity volatility fell 12.8% and bond volatility 5.6%. **How I read it**The number that matters for our model sits on the S&P 500\. On Wednesday the weekly candle carried a sell reversal by 0.04%; on Thursday the week's typical price climbed back **0.34%** above the level of the long trade opened on 6 April. The reversal has been withdrawn, and the trade is still more than 12% in profit. On the Nasdaq 100 the daily signal turned back to a buy and lined up with the weekly. The reversal on US financials is still open, 0.42% below its starting level: for **risk management**, the week is settled by today's close. On the short side Arm stocks are still 15.98% in profit after yesterday's 8.57% jump, Alphabet 3.43% and Broadcom 2.96%. The chip rally did work against our shorts on Intel stocks and AMD stocks. The session's **price action trading** picture is a concentrated rebound: technology carried almost all of the S&P 500's gain, and **Nvidia stocks** and **Microsoft stocks** did their share. Our model has been short these names for months, and the positions are still in profit after the session: **Rocket Lab** up 38.39% since 1 June, D-Wave 11.95%, FuelCell 4.24%, First Solar 1.61%, Archer 3.23%, and Boeing 6.11%. On the long side Robinhood is up 5.32% and Strategy 3.88%. For **swing trading**, a 9% bounce on a stock with a weekly sell reads as short covering until the weekly turns: the daily buy fired on many of them, but against the weekly. [Campari](https://aitrading67.com/en/davide-campari-milano-stock-signals/)Long lost 1.56% and [Eni stock](https://aitrading67.com/en/eni-stock-signals/)Long 0.60%. **How I read it**Our model has been long the banks since April, and the session widened gains that were already large: Mediobanca **39.77%**, Monte dei Paschi 30.44%, Generali 28.66%, Intesa Sanpaolo 20.45%, UniCredit 16.53%, BPER 10.81%. On Intesa Sanpaolo stock the price has been closing in for two sessions on an entry zone the desk has been watching for days. We are also long Fincantieri at 8.55% and A2A, where the daily buy fired on Thursday on top of a weekly structure already in buy mode. On the short side Stellantis is still 24.72% in profit and Moncler 15.57% after the rise. Poste has been a short since early September, and yesterday's jump went against it. A second day of gains for all four, with Milan still in front. Beneath the rise the structures remain split. Milan has been a sell since the week ended 4 September, with the typical price of the forming week **2.94%** below its level; on Thursday, though, its daily signal turned to a buy for the first time since mid-August. Paris has been a sell since 24 August, 2.76% below its level. London remains a buy since April, 0.58% above. Frankfurt, a buy since April, carries a sell reversal on the forming candle, with the typical price **0.41%** below the level it started from, down from 0.99% on Wednesday. **How I read it**The two baskets on a sell, Milan and Paris, are also the furthest from their records, and their bearish reading is intact: on Paris the sell signal is 2.45% in profit. The open case is Frankfurt, which has closed more than half the gap to the level its reversal started from and can withdraw it tonight. The **Signal Strength**, which measures a move's conviction and never its safety, is low on all four: a phase where levels matter more than trends. Applying each basket's sector weights to the day's sector moves, SPY should have gained 0.93% and QQQ 1.27%: both did better, and technology accounts for 74 basis points of the first and 114 of the second. On the weekly the two baskets are back on the same side. On SPY the typical price of the forming week rose **0.34%** above the level of the long trade opened on 6 April, and Wednesday's sell reversal has been withdrawn; SPY is in its twenty-third week, with every profit-taking window reached. QQQ has its typical price 1.73% above its own level, and on Thursday it turned its daily signal to a buy as well, by just 0.06%. **How I read it**The same composition that shielded the Nasdaq 100 on Wednesday lifted it on Thursday: technology is 50.5% of QQQ and 32.9% of SPY. The upshot is that QQQ has both time frames aligned and SPY does not, because its daily signal is still a sell by 0.21%; SPY, however, sits closer to its record, 2.15% below against 4.24%. **Risk management** on these two instruments today comes down to two levels: SPY's weekly close above its own level, and QQQ holding its daily turn. The recovery was broad across indices, all seven higher, and narrow across sectors, with technology carrying almost all the weight on Wall Street. The most concrete result for our model is the withdrawal of the S&P 500's sell reversal, which removes the week's biggest threat. On the SPY ETF the threat is gone for now.
