# Technical analysis: Wall Street reopens after Labor Day with oil at six-week highs, and Infineon stock jumps 6.91%

7 September 2026 AiTrading67 · Trade Desk Observatory Markets

On Monday 7 September **Wall Street did not open**: Labor Day in the United States, Independence Day in Brazil. The stage passed to Europe, and two things decided the session — crude back at six-week highs on the escalation in the Strait of Hormuz, and in Milan the closing act of the Poste–Telecom Italia deal, with acceptances shutting on the 11th.

In the cards below you will find the **technical analysis** of the names that moved the session and of those reopening this afternoon, with our model's position on each one, long or short, and the date the signal fired. From Wall Street, which reopens today after three days, Friday's moves are still to be digested in a single candle: SanDisk stock up **11.90%**, Micron stocks up 6.10%, Tesla stock down 5.92% and Adobe stock down 6.73% on the eve of its own results. In Europe, Infineon stock rose 6.91% after an acquisition announced on Saturday, with SAP stock and Dassault Systèmes on the other side, and **semiconductor stocks** rebounding across the continent. On the **Milan market**, Eni and Tenaris were carried by crude while Lottomatica gained 7.70% on four and a half times its normal volume.

Then there is the technical fact of the day, and it concerns Italy: on the week now running our model has opened a **sell signal on the FTSE MIB** after twenty-two weeks of buy and plus 12.52%. The week closes on Friday and until then it stays provisional — but it is not the only one. Six signals are turning. Every reading below comes out of a systematic model, that is **ai trading** applied to some 450 instruments, and they remain references: the decision always belongs to whoever takes it.

The day without Wall Street

## US and Brazilian markets shut: 304 of our 424 names still carry Friday's price

US equity and bond markets were closed on Monday for Labor Day, and so was São Paulo for Independence Day. In our universe that means something very concrete: **120 names out of 424** have a fresh price and **304** do not. Of the seven broad indices we track, four had a session — the four European ones — and three did not.

European markets closed in scattered order and within narrow ranges: Paris and Milan both up **0.28%**, Frankfurt down 0.13%, London down 0.09%. None beyond half a point. Without the usual American reference in the afternoon the indices compressed while individual themes did the work: the two sectors that really moved, European technology and oil, each gained more than a full point.

**How I read it**Today's operational fact is not in Monday's numbers, it is in the calendar. Wall Street reopens this afternoon having to absorb three days of news in one candle: a weekend of military escalation in the Gulf, crude at six-week highs and a jobs report that has put a rate rise back on the table. For **risk management** that changes the timing far more than the direction: in the first minutes of a reopening like this the price is realigning rather than signalling, and the opening **price action trading** range should be read as noise. Anyone working in **swing trading** has the whole week ahead; anyone entering at the bell is buying the volatility of a gap.

The geopolitical premium on crude

## Hormuz lifts oil to six-week highs: Eni stock and Tenaris stock in the spotlight

The thread running through the session came from the sea. Over the weekend the United States struck three Iranian tankers in response to the targeting of two US Navy vessels, and Tehran claimed attacks on three US-linked ships transiting the Strait. Roughly a quarter of the world's seaborne oil and a fifth of its liquefied natural gas pass through that stretch of water: Brent returned close to 98 dollars and WTI moved above 92, the highest in about six weeks.

On the Italian market the effect was immediate. **Eni stock** [Eni](https://aitrading67.com/en/eni-stock-signals/)Long closed up **0.59%** on the same day the company announced a biofuels agreement with Petronas; [Tenaris](https://aitrading67.com/en/tenaris-stock-signals/)Short added **1.12%** and [TotalEnergies](https://aitrading67.com/en/totalenergies-stock-signals/)Long **1.58%** in Paris. [Saipem](https://aitrading67.com/en/saipem-stock-signals/)Short was the exception, shedding **0.46%** despite belonging to the same sector.

**How I read it**Our dashboard already shows crude up **17%** over the month and 8% over the week, with shipping rates up **25%** on the month: two independent measures — the price of the commodity and the cost of moving it — converging on the same story. It has to be said, though, that those figures stop on Friday, because the market that produces them was shut on Monday: the weekend jump is not yet inside the measurement, so the theme is probably stronger than we can see. What I notice on our own model concerns Tenaris: on the week now running the signal is turning **from sell to buy**, and it is the only one of today's six reversals pointing upward. Provisional until Friday, but consistent with the theme.

ITALY

The Milan market

## Poste stock and TIM stock down to the wire, Lottomatica up 7.70% on four times its volume

In Milan the story of the day was the deal between [Poste Italiane](https://aitrading67.com/en/poste-italiane-stock-signals/)Long and [Telecom Italia](https://aitrading67.com/en/telecom-italia-stock-signals/)Long. Telecom Italia announced that its chief executive and the managers with strategic responsibilities have tendered their own shares into the voluntary exchange and purchase offer launched by Poste Italiane, which pays 1.97 euros in cash plus 0.218 Poste shares for each TIM share, with a cash component capped at 3.36 billion. The TIM board judged the consideration fair, acceptances close on **11 September** and completion is expected by year end. Both fell on the day: **Telecom Italia stock** lost **3.56%**, Poste **2.42%**.

The widest move on the market — and across our whole universe — belonged to [Lottomatica](https://aitrading67.com/en/lottomatica-stock-signals/)Short, up **7.70%**. Also firm were [STMicroelectronics](https://aitrading67.com/en/stmicroelectronics-stock-signals/)Short at plus **4.01%** in the wake of the European chip rebound, [Prysmian](https://aitrading67.com/en/prysmian-stock-signals/)Short at plus 2.66%, [Fincantieri](https://aitrading67.com/en/fincantieri-stock-signals/)Long at plus 0.94% and [UniCredit](https://aitrading67.com/en/unicredit-stock-signals/)Long at plus 0.57%. Among the asset gatherers, [Banca Mediolanum](https://aitrading67.com/en/banca-mediolanum-stock-signals/)Long shed 1.65% and [FinecoBank](https://aitrading67.com/en/finecobank-stock-signals/)Long 0.30% despite reporting August net inflows of 678 and 957 million euros respectively. [UNIPOL ASSICURAZIONI](https://aitrading67.com/en/unipol-assicurazioni-stock-signals/)Long lost 1.13% and [Amplifon](https://aitrading67.com/en/amplifon-stock-signals/)Long 1.35%, while [Intesa Sanpaolo](https://aitrading67.com/en/intesa-sanpaolo-stock-signals/)Long was flat at minus 0.03% after the bank restated that it will not interfere in Generali.

**How I read it**On Lottomatica there is a detail worth more than the percentage, and no other card of ours carries it: on Monday the stock traded **four and a half times** its median volume of the last sixty sessions, with **80.5%** of that volume classified on the buy side. Heavy volume, with side and price direction agreeing, and it was the only name in our entire universe in that condition on the day. Our model has been short here since 22 June, so the session went against us: a rise carried by real money reads differently from a technical bounce, and this one had real money behind it. If it repeats, it changes a view; once, it does not. On the other side Eni carries the highest **Signal Strength** on our list today at 83%, where Signal Strength measures conviction and the breadth of a move rather than its safety. One more thing to flag: on the week now running, the signal on Poste and on FinecoBank is turning from buy to sell, still provisional until Friday's close.

EUROPE

Frankfurt, Paris and London

## Infineon stock up 6.91% on its acquisition, SAP stock and Dassault on the other side

In a weak session for the German index the standout was [Infineon Technologies](https://aitrading67.com/en/infineon-technologies-stock-signals/)Short, the best DAX name with a **6.91%** jump after Saturday's announcement of the C2i Semiconductors acquisition, which adds to its momentum in power chips. Infineon stocks led a broad rebound in European **semiconductor stocks** on the day. [RWE](https://aitrading67.com/en/rwe-stock-signals/)Long also did well at plus **1.99%**. On the other side [SAP](https://aitrading67.com/en/sap-stock-signals/)Long weighed on the index with a **1.55%** fall, [Rheinmetall](https://aitrading67.com/en/rheinmetall-stock-signals/)Long lost **1.28%** and [Siemens](https://aitrading67.com/en/siemens-stock-signals/)Long 0.83%. Close to flat were [Volkswagen AG Pref](https://aitrading67.com/en/volkswagen-ag-pref-stock-signals/)Long at minus 0.34% after Friday's jump on its restructuring plan, [Bayerische Motoren Werke](https://aitrading67.com/en/bayerische-motoren-werke-stock-signals/)Long at plus 0.06% and [Deutsche Bank](https://aitrading67.com/en/deutsche-bank-stock-signals/)Long at minus 0.13%.

In Paris [Dassault Systemes](https://aitrading67.com/en/dassault-systemes-stock-signals/)Long lost **2.19%**, extending a difficult week for European software, and [EssilorLuxottica](https://aitrading67.com/en/essilorluxottica-stock-signals/)Short 0.83%. In London the FTSE 100 gave up a handful of points, held back by consumer names, healthcare and gold miners, while energy and some financials limited the damage.

**How I read it**The European chip rebound deserves to be seen for what it is. Our model has been **short Infineon since 13 July** and short STMicroelectronics since the same month, and on both the weekly money flow remains in distribution: this is not rotation restarting, it is a bounce inside a downtrend, and on Infineon it has a corporate reason that belongs to the company rather than the sector. Two names deserve a line of their own because the signal is turning on the week now running: **Dassault Systèmes** moves from buy to sell after being long since 20 July, and **Rheinmetall** does the same after 3 August. On the latter I would add a caution that concerns context rather than numbers: opening a short on German defence the day after a weekend of military escalation means standing against the biggest story in circulation, and today's close will say a great deal. On the side that has worked, our model is long RWE and Volkswagen, both born with Friday's cohort.

UNITED STATES

What reopens this afternoon

## US stocks still at Friday: SanDisk stock up 11.90%, Tesla stock down 5.92%, Adobe into earnings

The American market reopens today carrying Friday 4 September's prices, and that is where it starts from. That session belonged to hardware: [Sandisk](https://aitrading67.com/en/sandisk-stock-signals/)Long up **11.90%**, [Nebius](https://aitrading67.com/en/nebius-stock-signals/)Long up 7.48%, [Bloom Energy](https://aitrading67.com/en/bloom-energy-stock-signals/)Short up 7.35%, [Marvell Technology](https://aitrading67.com/en/marvell-technology-stock-signals/)Long up 7.05%, [Micron Technology](https://aitrading67.com/en/micron-technology-stock-signals/)Short up 6.10%, [CoreWeave](https://aitrading67.com/en/coreweave-stock-signals/)Long up 5.68%, [Constellation Energy](https://aitrading67.com/en/constellation-energy-stock-signals/)Long up 4.88%, [Advanced Micro Devices](https://aitrading67.com/en/advanced-micro-devices-stock-signals/)Short up 4.69%, [Super Micro Computer](https://aitrading67.com/en/super-micro-computer-stock-signals/)Long up 4.54% and [Intel](https://aitrading67.com/en/intel-stock-signals/)Short up 4.51%.

Within the same sector software fell: [Autodesk](https://aitrading67.com/en/autodesk-stock-signals/)Short down **8.26%**, [Adobe](https://aitrading67.com/en/adobe-stock-signals/)Long down **6.73%**, [Netflix](https://aitrading67.com/en/netflix-stock-signals/)Long down 5.35%. Outside it, [Tesla](https://aitrading67.com/en/tesla-stock-signals/)Long lost **5.92%** between an underwhelming event and a fresh probe, [Palantir Technologies](https://aitrading67.com/en/palantir-technologies-stock-signals/)Long 4.49% and [Apple](https://aitrading67.com/en/apple-stock-signals/)Short 2.51%. [Oracle](https://aitrading67.com/en/oracle-stock-signals/)Long gained 3.08% on the eve of its own results and [NVIDIA](https://aitrading67.com/en/nvidia-stock-signals/)Long just 0.84%.

**How I read it**The most useful reading on this block is about distance rather than direction. On four of Friday's strongest names weekly money flow is heading out while the price widens, and the gap to the respective Inversion Point — the level that would close the trade — has grown beyond what is manageable: Nebius sits **11.12%** above its own level, CoreWeave 8.72%. At distances like that the stop stops being a **risk management** tool and becomes a formality, which is why these names carry a reduced rather than a full size on our own trading sheet. The other side has to be said too: our model is short Micron, Bloom Energy, Intel, Advanced Micro Devices and Autodesk, and on three of those five Friday proved us wrong. The fifth, Autodesk, fell 8.26% and the signal worked. The name to watch this afternoon remains Adobe, arriving at Thursday's numbers after a 6.73% fall: the market has already voted ahead of the results.

OUR MODEL

The week now running

## Six weekly signals are turning, and the first one is the FTSE MIB

The week closing on Friday 11 is bringing **six reversals** across the names we cover. Five move from buy to sell: [FTSE MIB ETF](https://aitrading67.com/en/ftse-mib-etf-signals/), [Poste Italiane](https://aitrading67.com/en/poste-italiane-stock-signals/), [FinecoBank](https://aitrading67.com/en/finecobank-stock-signals/), [Dassault Systemes](https://aitrading67.com/en/dassault-systemes-stock-signals/) and [Rheinmetall](https://aitrading67.com/en/rheinmetall-stock-signals/). One goes the other way, from sell to buy, and it is [Tenaris](https://aitrading67.com/en/tenaris-stock-signals/), consistent with the move in crude.

The first is the one that matters. On the **FTSE MIB** the buy signal had run since 7 April, twenty-two completed weeks, and carried plus **12.52%** with all three profit-taking windows already banked. The exit level had sat unchanged at 53.4437 for two consecutive weeks — a trailing stop that stops climbing is a warning in itself — and on Monday the price closed **0.087%** above it, less than a tenth of a point.

**How I read it**The caution comes first, because it counts: the weekly candle closes on Friday, and until then a reversal can be withdrawn. That is a rule we apply every time and it applies here too. That said, three things make this one sturdier than most. The level had been static for two weeks, the price has been grazing it for six sessions, and the daily signal had already turned to sell on **18 August** — three weeks ahead of the weekly. On a trade this mature that is the orderly end of a cycle rather than an accident: the ground has been covered, the targets have been banked, and now the exit level is doing its job. **Signal Strength** on this basket has fallen to **zero out of a hundred**, the floor of the scale, against 7 on the S&P 500 ETF and 17 on the Nasdaq one: the push that generated the trade is entirely spent. For anyone running a **trading strategy** on the Italian index, this week is the turning point.

INDICES

The four European baskets

## European indices: Milan breaks away from the other three

[DAX ETF](https://aitrading67.com/en/dax-etf-signals/)Long closed down 0.13%, [CAC 40 ETF](https://aitrading67.com/en/cac-40-etf-signals/)Short up 0.28%, [FTSE MIB ETF](https://aitrading67.com/en/ftse-mib-etf-signals/)Long up 0.28% and [FTSE 100 ETF](https://aitrading67.com/en/ftse-100-etf-signals/)Long down 0.09%. The distances from their records tell four different stories: the German basket is closest to its own high at minus **2.21%**, followed by Milan at minus 3.38%, Paris at minus 5.10% and London at minus **7.65%**.

On our signals the picture reads as follows: the German basket has been on buy since 13 April and carries plus **4.97%**, with the price 1.31% above its exit level; London has been on buy since 7 April and carries plus 2.08%, with 1.91% of headroom; Paris has been on sell since 24 August, with the price 2.82% below its own inversion level.

**How I read it**What diverges today is **Milan**, and that is the information this card exists to give. The Italian basket is the only one of the four with its price effectively resting on its own exit level — 0.087% above it, against margins of 1.3% to 1.9% on the other two long baskets — and the only one where the week now running is turning the signal. That the other three are not doing the same is news in itself: this is not Europe turning, it is the Italian basket reaching the end of a cycle after twenty-two weeks and plus 12.52%. Worth adding on the comparison is the French basket, the only one already short and one that nonetheless closed higher on Monday: a sell signal watching its own index rise is precisely the case where **risk management** matters more than the thesis.

INSTRUMENTS

The baskets of the session

## The ETFs that moved the day: the semiconductor ETF, the gold ETF and the two European ones

[EXV3](https://aitrading67.com/en/technology-europe-etf-signals/) — the iShares STOXX Europe 600 Technology, that is the European technology ETF — was the best sector of the session at plus **1.25%**, and [EXH1](https://aitrading67.com/en/energy-europe-etf-signals/) — the iShares STOXX Europe 600 Oil & Gas, the European oil and gas ETF — came second at plus **1.19%**. Much further back sat [EXV1](https://aitrading67.com/en/banks-europe-etf-signals/), the European banks ETF, at plus 0.12%, and [EXHG](https://aitrading67.com/en/automobiles-europe-etf-signals/), the European autos ETF, at plus 0.07%.

On the American side the baskets still carry Friday's prices. [SOXX](https://aitrading67.com/en/semiconductors-etf-signals/) — the iShares Semiconductor ETF, the reference semiconductor ETF — had closed up **3.52%**, the widest move of the group; [XLK](https://aitrading67.com/en/technology-us-etf-signals/), the Technology Select Sector SPDR, the US technology ETF, up 0.70%. [GLD](https://aitrading67.com/en/gold-etf-signals/) — SPDR Gold Shares, the most heavily traded gold ETF in the world — had slipped **0.84%** as yields climbed, and [XLE](https://aitrading67.com/en/energy-us-etf-signals/), the US energy ETF, 0.87%.

**How I read it**The line that deserves attention is the semiconductor one. Our model has been **short the semiconductor ETF since 13 July**, and on Friday that basket rose 3.52%: the session proved us wrong, and on Monday the rebound continued in Europe. The distinction we hold is between the basket and its parts: we are long the US technology ETF and the European one, short the chip-specific basket, and that is not a contradiction but a picture of rotation inside the sector. The second observation concerns gold: the gold ETF has been ours since 3 August and gave ground as yields rose, which is exactly what you would expect — when the cost of money climbs, the metal loses its relative advantage. On oil the observation runs the other way and is worth making: the commodity is running 17% over the month, the US energy ETF is not. When that happens, the market is usually starting to ask how sustainable the price is.

OUR MODEL

The 4 September cohort

## The week's new buy signals: nothing changes today, and there is a reason

The cohort was born on Friday 4 September's close: **21** new buy signals, **14** of them tradable. From Tuesday to Friday this card publishes only what changes — who crosses above or below their entry level, who switches side on the daily, who reports earnings, who drops out of the cohort.

**Today nothing changes, and the reason is the calendar**: of the fourteen tradable names only four had an open market on Monday — the three German ones, [Volkswagen AG Pref](https://aitrading67.com/en/volkswagen-ag-pref-stock-signals/)Long, [Bayerische Motoren Werke](https://aitrading67.com/en/bayerische-motoren-werke-stock-signals/)Long and [RWE](https://aitrading67.com/en/rwe-stock-signals/)Long, plus Italy's [Iveco](https://aitrading67.com/en/iveco-stock-signals/)Long. The other ten, American and Brazilian, had no session at all. None of the four crossed its entry level or switched side on the daily.

**How I read it**A cohort that stands still for calendar reasons is not a cohort confirmed: it is a cohort not yet tested, and the difference matters. The ten names that did not trade reopen today and tomorrow with three days of news to absorb at once, so this week's first real test arrives tonight. Among the four that did work, the one I keep watching is **Iveco**: it carries the lowest Signal Strength on the whole list at 13 out of 100, and on Friday it traded four times its median volume with 83.3% on the buy side and the price flat. That kind of quiet accumulation shows up in no ranking, which is exactly why it is worth writing down. The caveat always applies and we repeat it: past data does not guarantee future results.

CALENDAR

Earnings in the next seven days

## This week's earnings: Adobe, Oracle and Avio on Thursday, arriving from three different places

Three companies in our universe report over the next seven days, and all three arrive on the same day from very different positions.

**Thursday 10 September**

[Adobe](https://aitrading67.com/en/adobe-stock-signals/) Long

[Oracle](https://aitrading67.com/en/oracle-stock-signals/) Long

[Avio](https://aitrading67.com/en/avio-stock-signals/) Short

**How I read it**[Adobe](https://aitrading67.com/en/adobe-stock-signals/) comes to its numbers having lost **6.73%** on Friday, one of the day's outsized moves: the market has already voted against it ahead of the results, while our weekly signal stays on the buy side. [Oracle](https://aitrading67.com/en/oracle-stock-signals/) arrives in the most favourable combination of the window, with weekly and daily signals both on the buy side and a 3.08% gain on Friday. [Avio](https://aitrading67.com/en/avio-stock-signals/) is the most delicate case, because it sits inside the earnings window and among the names our model is proposing on the sell side at the same time: when those two things coincide, size comes down regardless of the view. The way we look at earnings is measured rather than impressionistic: results **do not shift the average return**, they double the dispersion. So they are neither a reason to enter nor a reason to stay out — they are a reason to enter smaller. This is the point where **risk management** matters more than forecasting.

UNITED STATES

The two US baskets

## Technical analysis of SPY and QQQ: one point of road ahead against four

SPY, the S&P 500 ETF [S&P 500](https://aitrading67.com/en/sp-500-etf-signals/)Long, and QQQ, the Nasdaq 100 ETF [Invesco QQQ Trust](https://aitrading67.com/en/nasdaq-100-etf-signals/)Long, reopen this afternoon carrying Friday's prices: the first had lost **0.39%**, the second gained **0.18%**. The reason for the divergence lies in composition: technology is **50.54%** of the Nasdaq basket against 32.91% of the broad one and rose 0.70%; financials are 0.24% against 12.59% and fell 0.79%.

Both sit inside their own congestion zone, resting on the floor. The geometry, though, is very different. The S&P 500 ETF is in the twenty-third week of a buy signal worth **13.35%**, with all three profit-taking windows banked, and stands just **1.19%** below its record; the Nasdaq 100 ETF is in its fifth week, still 1.66% below its entry level, and sits **4.13%** below its own.

**How I read it**The comparison comes down to one number each. On the broad basket, between the price and the level that would close a trade open for twenty-two completed weeks there are fewer than two percentage points, and inside that space nine separate technical references pile up: a very dense floor, but with only 1.19% of headroom to the record above. One point of road ahead and two behind. On the Nasdaq the ratio is reversed: more room ahead, but a position that so far has only lost ground. The gauge that captures the difference is **Signal Strength**, which measures conviction and the breadth of a move and never its safety: **7 out of 100** on the broad basket, 17 on the technology one. Both are low readings, and on a mature structure driven by almost no conviction the operational conclusion is a single one: this is not the place to add. With the US central bank meeting on 16 September, this is a phase for **risk management** on what you already hold rather than for building fresh exposure to the broad baskets.

The desk's take

## The bigger picture: a market rising on fewer and fewer legs

The week is governed by two closely spaced events and by one variable nobody watches. The events are the European Central Bank on **Thursday the 10th** and the Federal Reserve on **16 September**, both with the door open to tightening rather than easing after a US jobs report that came in well above expectations. The variable is breadth: market participation has fallen **18% in seven days** and 26% over the month, and has been declining for three weeks. With crude running 17% over the month and shipping rates 25%, the picture is one of inflation making itself felt again while the number of stocks taking part in the rally narrows. In a phase like this, picking the wrong name costs double: there is no tide to bail you out.

**What you find here.** If you are trying to understand **how to manage risk in trading** — stops, break-even stops, trailing, and the declaration of stops that have been taken out — or **how to read chart patterns** (double bottoms, Bollinger bands, the Ichimoku cloud, price action trading), this is the desk's **trading journal**: published every morning before the US premarket, with our model's position on every instrument mentioned.
