The decline loses steam, but volume swings back to selling
Our view last week
British American Tobacco shares bounce 4.6% after a heavy sell week, climbing off a double bottom in the 4320 area with 87% of volume back on the buy side. The technical picture is two-sided though: the Sell signal, under management for 6 weeks, is still down 6%, while the ADX keeps sliding and money flow, still negative, is losing its edge. The decline is losing steam, but it hasn't broken yet.
This week's summary
British American Tobacco gives back 2.1% after last week's bounce: volume flips back to the sellers, at 54%, and money flow deepens further into negative territory, from -0.10 to -0.19. Momentum collapses from +178 to -69 and the ADX slips to 15.5, a sign the trend is losing conviction. The double bottom in the 4320 area still holds for now, but last week's push higher is fading.
