Rio Tinto bounces back, buyers return to volume
Our view last week
This week Rio Tinto shares gain 2.1%, but beneath the surface the picture doesn't add up: sell volume climbs to 78%, the highest of the past four weeks, and weekly momentum keeps accelerating to the downside. The rebound off the double bottom in the 6540 area continues, but the last bar shows sellers firmly in control. The sell signal, now in its fifth week, stays under management with the short up 4.17%.
This week's summary
Rio Tinto gains 4.4% this week, and buyers retake control of volume at 73%, reversing last week's picture when sellers dominated the tape. Momentum is slowing the decline and MACD is improving, but cash flow (CMF) keeps deteriorating: a contrast that keeps the price boxed between nearby resistance and support. The sell signal, now in its 6th week, remains under management near breakeven.
