Vanguard Energy ETF gains 3.3% as the higher-lows run pushes toward the highs
US energy, the push continues
Our view last week
The Vanguard Energy ETF, Vanguard's fund on the US energy sector, turns the page: after weeks of a sell signal that closed sideways, a fresh buy signal fires this week — 17th among the 20 new US Longs in our VDE technical analysis. The stock is up 4.7% and bounces off its own 20-day moving average, but volume is contracting and the distribution phase stays pronounced: the picture still needs confirmation, with the energy sector strong behind it.
This week's summary
Vanguard Energy ETF climbs 3.3% and extends its run of three higher lows, from the 149 area toward 158: price is back near its historical highs, close to the 171 threshold. The energy sector pushes from behind, sharply higher over the past month, and the weekly averages stay fully aligned to the upside. Under the surface a few cracks: volume is contracting and distribution stays pronounced, a counterweight worth watching.
