XLI industrial ETF: a stalled picture in week 15
Our view last week
XLI bounces 1.8% after two red weeks, with 80% of volume on the buy side and a clean double bottom in the 174 area acting as the floor. In our XLI technical analysis the MACD histogram keeps narrowing though, a sign the upside push hasn't fully returned: price stays boxed between the daily pivot (182.8 area) and the 7-day high (183.9 area). The trade's capital is running at +5.3%.
This week's summary
XLI, the US industrial sector ETF, slips 1.5% this week and tightens back up between the daily pivot and the 7-day high. Thursday's bounce landed right on the 50-day moving average, but the pace was soft: the weekly MACD is fading and sellers edge back in control of volume. Our XLI technical analysis shows a stalled, undecided picture, with the trade still up 3.65% since entry.
