French stocks technical analysis — overall read
The French basket enters the week on a middling technical footing, its average IQS Lite of 49.8 sitting close to the neutral line while masking a genuine split underneath. The heaviest concentration is in the stretched band, where 47.8% of the names now reside — a minority just short of half, but the single most crowded part of the setup and the place where any unwinding would be felt first. The trend backbone looks solid on the longer frame: a clear majority, 73.9%, carry a positive weekly MACD, and 52.2%, just over half, show a strong weekly EMA structure. The problem is that price extension is running ahead of the flows meant to fund it. Only 43.5% of the names have positive Chaikin Money Flow, a shade under half, which means more than half are climbing without money-flow confirmation behind them. Beneath the stretched cohort, 30.4% remain compressed — well under half, coiled and quiet rather than participating — while a mere 8.7% have run mature. Put differently, a majority just past the midpoint of the basket is already extended or late-cycle, and the remainder is either ordinary or still dormant. It is a constructive weekly picture stretched thin at the point where buyers are most exposed.
The tension sits squarely in that stretched cohort. It is the most populated band, and it is precisely the group least supported by money flow, so the basket's constructive weekly trend is leaning on positioning that is already extended rather than freshly built. That is where the second fault line opens: the weekly structure reads considerably firmer than the daily one. On the longer frame the trend and momentum picture holds together, but the daily backdrop is patchier — fewer names are pushing with strong short-term momentum, and a meaningful slice already carries a soft daily EMA. When the weekly frame says trend intact and the daily frame says drive fading, the resolution usually comes from the shorter clock catching down to price, not price extending further. For next week, the thing to watch is whether money flow starts to confirm the stretched leaders or continues to lag them; a lagging flow into an extended, crowded band is how orderly trends turn choppy. Watch, too, whether the daily momentum picture firms up to meet the weekly trend, or whether the soft daily EMAs spread into names that still look healthy on the weekly view. The compressed cohort is the offsetting story — quiet setups that could take the baton if the stretched names stall. Favor evidence of flow and daily follow-through over trend labels alone.
