US stocks technical analysis — overall read
The US basket of 228 names sits close to the technical midline, with an average IQS Lite of 50.4, and the internal spread tells the real story. The most populated band is stretched, holding 79 names, or 34.6% of the book, a minority that nonetheless outnumbers every other cohort. Behind it, the compressed band gathers 63 names, 27.6%, well under half, coiled and quiet; the mature cohort is the thinnest slice at 13.6%. Split down the middle, the extended half of the basket, stretched plus mature, reaches 48.2%, roughly balanced against the calmer half. The money-flow and trend readings lean constructive but only just: 53.1% of names carry positive Chaikin Money Flow, and a similar majority, 54.8%, show a positive weekly MACD, just over half in each case. Weekly EMA structure is strong across 53.9% of the book, confirming that the higher-timeframe skeleton is tilted the right way. The daily picture is where the caution enters. Only 31.1% of names show strong daily momentum, a minority well under half, and 35.5% carry a weak daily EMA structure. So the weekly frame holds a slim edge while the daily frame lags, and the average score of 50.4 masks a book pulled between a crowded stretched cohort and a large, still-dormant compressed contingent.
The tension is concentrated in that stretched band, the single most crowded cohort, and its size matters more than its lead suggests. When the largest group of names is already extended late in its move, the room to keep advancing without pause narrows, and any loss of momentum tends to show up there first. That is precisely where the divergence between the two timeframes bites: the weekly structure, in trend and money flow alike, still carries a narrow majority pointing higher, but the daily engine is running softer, with strong short-term momentum confined to a clear minority and daily trend structure weak across a meaningful chunk of the book. In other words, the higher timeframe is holding the basket up while the lower timeframe has quietly stopped confirming. A trader should read that gap as the key signal for the week ahead. Watch whether the stretched cohort begins to roll or simply consolidates, and whether the daily momentum readings start to catch up to the weekly frame or drag it lower. The compressed contingent is the other thing to keep in view: a large, dormant group like that can stay quiet for a long time, but it is where fresh setups would emerge if flow rotates. Until the daily side firms, treat strength as something to be sold into rather than chased, and keep position sizing honest around the most extended names.
